These MSI laptops I’ve been seeing in the computer stores are new in the market. There weren’t any MSI laptops in the shops before, but now they’re everywhere. Some of my friends chose to buy the brand than any other because, they said, the durability is high and the prices are competitive.

According to my friends, the MSI laptops look and feel more durable then other laptops of other brands. They say that all laptops are more or less alike when it comes to their insides, but the protection for the outside parts differ. on the inside more or less the same with more or less same manufacturers. One of my friends said that if you hold an MSI laptop with its screen exposed and you try to bend it by pushing on the corners with your thumb, there’s no malleable feel to it..
In the meantime, brochures also extol the virtues of the MSI laptops. Manufacturers take pride in saying that the laptops undergo a process and series of hard testing before they’re shipped from the factories and sold to the public. The laptops are tested like athletes: they do through various tests like pressure and humidity tests. They’re tested on how well they hold up under shock and vibration. The life spans of the connector hinges are also tested rigorously, and the same goes for the keyboards and the touch panels.
Reportedly there are at around 30 tests for the laptops before they’re deemed high quality and fit to be sold. Some of the other tests include dropping, I/O connectors, noise, antistatic capabilities. All in all, the system performance is assessed and weighed. Now I don’t know what these mean exactly, but it seems to me that it all consists of the most rigorous testing standards. That must mean that MSI laptops are durable; but I wonder if all the kinds are of the same durability. There are, after all, different kinds. So far, the laptop brand has come up with six series: the Gaming Series, Aesthetics Series, Professional Series, Entertainment Series, Ultra Portable and Value Series.
Now I don’t know much about laptops and which brands are better so I tend to really on the opinion of friends who are more or less experts because they like to read magazines on the industry, they visit sites, they go to stores and try out the new models. Gadget freaks, that’s what they are; and while I don’t understand the fascination, I respect it.
The laptop, to me, is primarily a tool and not a toy. I don’t watch movies on them or listen to music because doing these drains the battery faster than usual. I use my laptop for work and hardly for play, so I really need to keep it in tip-top condition. I don’t put stickers on my laptop either, unlike other people who cover every inch of their laptop cover with various images and stick-ons. I don’t have a fancy sleeve for my laptop, only a sturdy, cushioned bag.
Maybe if I get an MSI, I wont even need the bag because the laptop will already be durable enough without added protection.
